“It’ll be an adventure, just like that hike we took along those seaside cliffs to visit those castle ruins.”
“That was a hike. This is a gathering. How do we compare the two?”
“It’s not literal. The ruins were an adventurous goal, that had to be achieved through excitement, motivation, effort, and a desired goal at the end of a challenging path. We let down our guard, we took the risk. It was fun, challenging, we mitigated risks, we stumbled and got muddy, but we reached the ruins. It was exhilarating, and the payoff was huge. The memories are the best, still.”
The seaside cliff path to the ruins was challenging at best, treacherous at worst… especially the day after an all-day rain, which is when we went. There were signs posted for the casual tourists, reminding those who were less-prepared that this was for real.
We went. We made it there, we made it back. No worse for wear, except for bramble splinters in my hands, and some muddy clothes on both of us.
It was exhilarating, and the payoff was huge. The memories are the best, still.
