**

It’s our first hotel room together. I don’t think either of us ever thought we’d be here for this, but we have needs.

We’re safe together, in the sense that we’re friends and will never be, or need to be, or want to be in love with each other. But we do have complete trust. It’s an easy solution for us.

Although we’re close, we’ve never been close like this, although the desire came quickly once we confessed our needs to each other- needs that could have been satisfied by others- but hey, we’re available (!), and we do have a mutual sexual attraction, after all. Isn’t that the whole Friends with Benefits thing?

As I said, we’re safe. We can discretely cocoon together and remain exclusive to each other (in this sense). You don’t want your husband to know. We don’t need any added pressure, distraction, or risk.

But we’re safer than you think.

Your husband, my best friend, knows about us. He wants this to happen. He confided in me that as we get older, he feels you want more and should have more. Your pleasure brings him pleasure.

He wanted me to be the one because he knew I was physically and emotionally safe, and he knew that you were interested. He knew that I wouldn’t hurt you, that I wouldn’t fall in love with you, that I like and respect you, that I would protect you. That I wanted you. That you would probably jump at the chance.

So while you break your promise with your husband (or think you are), I keep my promise to both of you. But I’m not in this room because of him. I’m here because of you. His approval, indeed, his encouragement, is only a pleasant side effect. But together, we get to make us all happy, even though you may not know it. Yet.

Story Notes:
This short story is a placeholder of sorts, a branch of an idea that I wanted to get down on paper. It asks more questions than it answers, and I like that. I’ll come back to this.
